Donations FAQ

Can I Give Via the U.S. Combined Federal Campaign?

Combined Federal CampaignFederal Employees (including Military) may now give to Youth for Christ International through the Combined Federal Campaign. Our CFC number is 11827.

How Are Donations Handled?

Donations are solicited with the understanding that Youth for Christ International has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds. Our board approved policy is that all gifts preferenced to support a particular nation, program, project or ministry of a staff member will be honoured but the final decision on the use of all funds rests with Youth for Christ International. We recognise our responsibility for accountability and our audited financial statements are available.

Tax Deductibility

Donations are tax-deductible in the United States of America to the extent allowed by law.

Giving Regularly

If you give monthly or quarterly via credit card or by Electronic Funds Transfer you will receive an Annual Giving Statement in January rather than regular monthly receipts.

Maximise your donation

You can maximise your donation by giving via Electronic Funds Transfer. Less fees and processing time mean more of your gift is used for ministry.

Administrative Assessment

Ninety percent of each donation preferenced to support a particular nation, program, project or ministry of a staff member is honoured by Youth for Christ International.

Each donation preferenced to support a particular nation, program, project or ministry of a staff member is assessed a ten percent overhead.

Overhead rate

We take seriously our responsibility to be good stewards of the funds entrusted to us. We are accountable to our donors, the recipients of our ministry and God to use them wisely.

We  continually strive to keep our overhead low without sacrificing the structures and staff needed to maintain a high level of ministry. We use nearly 85 percent of our total revenue to benefit ministry recipients.

Overhead is only one consideration in choosing a charity to support. Much more important is the charity’s mission and how effectively it accomplishes that mission. Results, impact, efficient management, and fiscal controls all are factors in an organization’s effectiveness. Despite the implied message by Internet rating groups, the most effective charity is not necessarily the one with the lowest overhead rate. A reasonable amount of overhead is needed to achieve ministry objectives.

While we openly share our overhead rate, we recognise that overhead rates alone are inadequate for evaluating a ministry. Accounting practices and the method of delivering programs vary, making an across-the-board comparison based on overhead impossible.
