Namibia was a German colony from 1883-1915, then under South African administration until 1990. It remains a member of the British commonwealth.
Namibia is a secular state promoting freedom of religion. Though 93 percent of Namibians profess Christianity, only two percent are truly evangelical. Despite the high profile of Christian denominations, non-Christian religions are being granted similar opportunities in the media.
