Overview of General AssemblyOverview of General Assembly

Historically, General Assembly has been a gathering of YFC's leaders from around the world. In Brazil, we piloted our first ever "Young Leaders" conference. The results from that have been amazing. Our goal for GA 2008 is to create an event that is both inspirational for Senior Staff (National Directors, Board Chairpersons, and staff) and launches a significant initiative with Young Leaders.

GA 2008 is about bringing a large number of Young Leaders together to see and learn from senior staff and to launch the Young Leader Development and Empowerment initiative.

UpdatedThe YFC Young Leaders Two-Year Development & Empowerment initiative is a process through which a young leader will be taken through a series of learning, developmental, and empowerment programs. During the process the young leader will be in a guided mentor relationship with a veteran staff member.

At the end of the two-year process, the young leaders will have received learning and leadership experiences in the following:

  • Mentoring
  • Coaching
  • Small Group Facilitation
  • Cross Cultural Missions
  • Spiritual Formation
  • Bible/Theology

The aim is that YFC will have empowered the young leaders through the development and empowerment program into strategic leadership roles within the ministry worldwide. Our desire is that all these young leaders will be characterized by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

YFC President David Wraight speaks to Young Leaders

We are encouraging each nation to bring five of their Young Leaders; Your nation may bring more or less than five, however, we will only provide travel subsidies for up to five. These Young Leaders are the heartbeat of the movement! There will be teaching times for both senior staff and Young Leaders, times of worship and prayer, great food, fun, and laughter. Most importantly, those that come will leave with an expanded vision of YFC's impact now and in the future through investing and mentoring Young Leaders.

The International Office of YFC has gathered some of the sharpest leaders from the entire family to pull this GA off! Our host nation, South Africa, along with the entire Africa Area, is looking forward to hosting GA 2008. We are holding the event at one of the premier training centers in South Africa, which happens to be owned and operated by South Africa YFC. We are anticipating a great event.

Please Pray:

  • God will be honored in all that we do
  • Planning and preparation for GA 2008
  • The Young Leaders coming from the 99 YFC nations
  • Provision of all of the resources needed
