Todd

Todd was hungry, alone and homeless. Many nights, he slept in the baseball dugout at the local high school. Soon, Todd was breaking into cars and found himself in the juvenile detention center.

There he met Barbara, the Juvenile Justice Director at Manatee Youth for Christ. This was a divine appointment that became the beginning of a whole new life for him.

Todd went back to high school, worked two jobs, played on the football team and also lived by himself in an apartment. The most important thing Todd did was surrender his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Todd eventually graduated high school and went to play football at Florida State University on a football scholarship. After graduating with two degrees, Todd played pro football in the NFL for five years.

A few years ago, Todd returned to Bradenton and got a teaching job at a local alternative school for troubled teens. When not teaching, Todd ministered with Youth for Christ reaching out to youth in the Florida community.

On January 6, 2014, Todd passed away at the age of 35 from an internal illness.

A Todd Williams Camp Scholarship Fund has been set up by Manatee Youth for Christ to provide camp scholarships for hopeless teens. The goal with the fund is to approach middle and high school principals and counselors asking them to select a boy and girl who are in hopeless situations. These are youth that are one step from jail or being homeless or just falling through the cracks – teens who are not on anyone’s radar screens.

A middle school camp scholarship is $400 and a high school scholarship is $550.

If you would be willing to adopt a teen through a full or half scholarship in memory of Todd Williams, to reach out to another desperate teen in hope of changing a life forever, visit the Manatee Youth for Christ Donation Page.
