Shiko, a quiet, shy 16 year-old out of school for lack of school fees, came to Youth for Christ’s Pregnancy Centre in Kenya last November. All she needed was a place to spend her time away from the vagrancies of her home life. A few days later she shared that she wanted to go back to school.
Staff person Martha Bwore says, “Inwardly I cried, oh Lord, but outwardly I encouraged her and told her we would talk in the New Year. A School Fund has been my prayer item for a long time. So I simply dumped it at the Master’s feet.”
A lady, Martha, met by chance, ended up wanting to volunteer and came to see what happens at the Centre. She met Shiko and in one week she had counselled the girl to re-sit her class eight, paid her school fees in a private school and asked Youth for Christ to buy her uniform and shoes.
God indeed works in mysterious ways!
