When she was 13, Kristina’s dad was diagnosed with terminal lung and bone cancer. She was bullied in school. She was so stressed, she says, that she wanted to kill herself.
She and a friend, who also struggled with anxiety and depression, began cutting together. Eventually, her dad died. How did she make it through? She credits her friends at Youth Unlimited, a Youth for Christ club in Canada where people listen, care, and love – something a lot of teenagers don’t experience much of the time.
